Eco-Innovation Leads: China's Christmas Tree Industry Breaks Through Globally in 2025

As the 2025 Christmas consumption season concludes, China, the world's core supplier of Christmas products, has solidified its position in the global $2.12 trillion Christmas retail market with the Christmas tree industry leveraging environmental transformation, technological innovation, and supply chain advantages. From the surge in orders at the Canton Fair to the full penetration of green materials, and from the advancement of procurement cycles to the diversification of sales channels, China's Christmas tree industry has achieved double growth in domestic and export sales through efficient reforms, demonstrating strong international competitiveness.

Green transformation has become the core competitiveness of the industry. In 2025, the market size of China's green Christmas trees is expected to reach 3.86 billion yuan, with a compound annual growth rate of 15.2%. Eco-friendly materials have fully dominated the market: reusable PE Christmas trees account for over 62%, while bio-based products such as bamboo and paper models are growing at a rate exceeding 25%. Domestic enterprises have increased R&D investment, widely adopting GRS-certified recycled polyethylene materials, and some leading companies are experimenting with plant-based needle technology to reduce carbon footprint.
Policy and market are driving green consumption hand in hand. Under the national "dual carbon" policy, many regions have included eco-friendly Christmas trees in the scope of green consumption vouchers. In corporate procurement in cities like Beijing and Shanghai, green products account for 28%. On the export front, enterprises have proactively obtained EU carbon footprint certification and North American ASTM safety standards. Exports of eco-friendly Christmas trees increased by 31% year-on-year, with market shares in the EU and North America rising to 45% and 38% respectively.
Product innovation meets the upgrading consumption demands, with foldable telescopic designs and intelligent lighting control becoming mainstream. Multi-size foldable models (1.2-1.8 meters) solve storage pain points, while built-in LED versions support multi-mode dimming, adapting to small apartments and scenario-based decoration needs. Cross-border e-commerce channels continue to thrive, with Christmas tree sales on platforms like Amazon and AliExpress growing by 47% year-on-year. Live streaming and customized services have driven domestic sales up by 23%.

Looking ahead, the industry will continue to focus on the iteration of eco-friendly materials and the integration of intelligent technologies, expanding into emerging markets such as Southeast Asia and the Middle East. With the dual engines of "green development + innovation", China's Christmas tree industry is transforming from "global manufacturing" to "global creation", injecting lasting vitality into the global Christmas consumption market.
